new New South Wales Arts, Culture and Creative Industries Policy

13 December 2023

National arts and culture think tank A New Approach (ANA) welcomes the New South Wales (NSW) government’s new Arts, Culture and Creative Industries Policy ‘Creative Communities’.

CEO of ANA, Kate Fielding, said momentum is building at all levels of government to ensure Australia has the foundation needed to become a global cultural powerhouse by 2035.

“For Australia to reach its potential as a cultural powerhouse we need public policy that facilitates sustained vision, meaningful collaboration and purposeful investment at the national, state and territory and local levels,” said Ms Fielding.

“The new Creative Communities policy by NSW recognises the direct and positive impact that arts, culture and creativity has on the lives of all people living and working in towns, cities and regions across the state.

“Arts, culture and creativity isn’t just a matter for the arts portfolio and I’m encouraged by the integrated approach NSW has taken in the development of their new arts, culture and creative industries policy.

“Australia cementing its place as a cultural powerhouse will take commitment and collaboration from government, business, industry and philanthropy right across Australia, and it is good to see progress on this across the country. It is up to all of us, and we each have a role to play.”
