Parliamentary Inquiry into Cultural and Creative Industries and Institutions: second appearance at public hearing
ANA Chair Rupert Myer AO and CEO Kate Fielding appeared at the second public hearing of the federal Parliamentary Inquiry into the Cultural and Creative Industries and Institutions, held by the Standing Committee on Communications and the Arts.
Rupert and Kate noted that the evidence presented to the Committee demonstrated the broad positive impacts of arts and culture on people’s lives, and to our society and economy. They also recognised the appetite for national non-partisan leadership and expressed hope that it translates into greater recognition and better public policy for creative and cultural industries and infrastructure. One practical way forward to achieve that hope is the development of a national arts, culture and creativity plan.
ANA also provided responses to questions asked by the Committee. These were about the breakdown of sports funding across different levels of government, and about philanthropy and donations in arts and culture.
